Mother Goose

ITV & The Disney Channel. 26 x half hour children's live action and puppet drama.

With puppets created by Jim Henson's Creature Shop, Mother Goose dramatises traditional nursery rhymes, including favourtites such as Humpty Dumpty, The Eensy Weensy Spider, Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, and Mary Had a Little Lamb. It won the Best Programme on Cable Television Award for All-round Excellence at the Ace Awards in Los Angeles, and Jacqueline’s work won her an Emmy Award for costume design.

The brief involved detailed research into history of children’s costume and into period children’s book illustrators, in particular Maxfield Parish, whose distinctive colour palette became the blueprint for the look of the costumes and the sets. The project also involved originating textile designs to harmonize with the fantasy/fairytale world of Mother Goose; and as chromakey matting techniques were employed, the design, fabric and colour of the costumes had to be chosen carefully to avoid ‘misbehaviour’.
