Dodger Specials

BBC and NBC children’s series. 3 x 45 minute episodes.

The three Dodger Specials further the zany antics of Fagin’s gang, involving a train robbery with Fagin posing as a monk; the hijacking of two hundred Christmas geese; and Dodger having to attend public school as part of his rehabilitation.

With the children now growing up and becoming more urbanised, the costumes reflected this in more sophisticated looks, such as the long fitted linen travel coat worn by Charley, together with a fitted silk brocade waistcoat. And Dodger required a more substantial frock coat, complemented by a shirt with a large late-Georgian collar. Also, Tang left behind her ragged look to emerge in a typical Victorian child’s dress teamed with lace-edged pantaloons.
